DESCRIPTION: This is a rare copy of the British version of the 1st pressing of Minor Threat's 12" EP (Dischord No. 12), in pretty much mint condition. This 12" EP combined Minor Threat's two 7" EPs from 1981 (Dischord No. 3 and No. 5). There were 3 different versions, all pressed in France, and all released simultaneously in 1984. This record is from the 2nd pressing of the American version (which came out in late '84 or perhaps in '85, I can't remember). The 1st pressing of the American version was printed with Red, Silver, and Black inks, and the 2nd pressing (for sale here) used Gray instead of Silver ink. In the upper left corner of the back cover it says "$4.00 Postpaid from Dischord".
[for reference's sake, the German version of this record was printed with Warm Gray, Yellow, and Black inks, and it admonishes people to "Zahl Nicht Mehr Als DM12" (Pay No More Than 12 Deutschmarks). The British version was printed with Dark Blue, Light Blue and Black inks, and says "Pay No More Than £2.50." The British and German versions were only ever produced in those color combinations. The American version, by contrast, has been in print since 1984, and there have been quite a few color combinations used over the years, but this Red/Grey combination has not been used since 1984 or 1985. Included is lyric sheet with photos of band, printed on glossy paper stock.
CONDITION / PROVENANCE: Record is in pretty much mint condition. It has never been played, and has been kept in a plastic sleeve, away from light and dust for the last 29 or 30 years. It would be dead mint except for a VERY small, and very short, crack in the center of the outermost layer of paper along the top spine (see photos). It is barely noticeable, and does not look in any way like the crack is going to grow. If you keep the record in a plastic sleeve and treat it nicely, I think it will remain a near-perfect specimen of this record. The cardstock used in European pressing plants was pretty thin, so spine splits were very common. Keep in mind that I kept the best copies possible in my archives, so even with this very slight split at the top, this copy was deemed better than most, and when we first got the records shipped over from Europe in 1984 or 1985, I considered it worthy of squirrelling away. This record is unconditionally guaranteed to be original, from 1984 or 1985. It comes from my (Jeff Nelson - Minor Threat/Dischord Records) punk archives, which are being downsized after continuing to be described variously as "too big" and "insane" or containing "more than my potential kids or grandkids will ever want."
