DESCRIPTION: Mint-condition 11" x 17"(280mm x 432mm) full-color flyer on very thick, coated paper stock, for Fast Piece of Furniture / Dirty Damn Band show at Mickey Finn's Pub in Toledo, Ohio, April 14th, 2006. I am very proud of how this flyer I did for my band turned out - it really is one of the nicest ones I ever did. For years I'd had a small studio portrait of little Miss Emily Stokes, which I got in some junk shop somewhere. There was just something about her countenance that fascinated me - like something out of "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn." I always wondered where she had lived, and what she grew up to be like. I also must say she looks a bit like a young McAulay Culkin. Anyway, when I came out of musical retirement and started playing drums again upon moving to Toledo and meeting my friend Tony Lowe, I finally found the perfect use for her portrait. I hope she would approve. I worked hard on the typography (a big passion of mine), coming up with a logo that I thought fit the band name and her portrait. I really like the logo, because to me it looks straight out of a vacuum cleaner ad from early 1900s. I have to give major props to Frank Heine who designed such a wonderful typeface.
I have very few of these flyers left, and do not plan on selling very many of them. I am also selling a smaller version of this flyer (8 1/2" x 11") for a little less (and postage ends up being a lot less). I'm also selling various sizes and colors of Fast Piece of Furniture t-shirts, featuring this and another logo, as well Fast Piece of Furniture's first record, "Adventures in Contentment" (a split release between Dischord Records, Adult Swim Records, and DC Jam Records). Warning - FPoF sounds nothing like Minor Threat! Musically quite diverse, but nothing approaching hardcore.
CONDITION / PROVENANCE: This flyer is in mint condition. It has been kept flat and away from sunlight for 6 years !! It is unconditionally guaranteed to be original, and from three years ago. It comes from my (Jeff Nelson - Minor Threat / Dischord Records) punk archives, which are being downsized after continuing to be described as "too big" and "insane" or containing "more than my potential kids or grandkids will ever want." Please see my auction for lots of other punk/hardcore flyers and records as well as other jetsam I'll be putting up for sale......
PAYMENT: Ohio Residents add 6.75% Sales Tax to item total (not shipping). Payment by PayPal only, says eBay. Please pay within 3 days of auction end.
SHIPPING: Flyer will be carefully rolled and shipped in a cardboard tube. Priority Mail will be $ 5.00. Outside of USA, reasonable Airmail rates apply. I'll be happy to give you a quote for postage to your country. If you might bid on some other flyers I have up for auction, just let me know - I'll be happy to combine shipping, and in so doing save you money, me effort, and the Earth trees... Thanks for looking!
